"Sopranos" actor found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound

Brooklyn Police have reported that actor John Costelloe (photo left) who was cast as a gay short order cook in a New Hampshire diner was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment on Decemebr 18th. of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. For those of you unfamiliar with Costelloe, he is the actor who portrayed the gay lover of the deep-in-the-closet gay mobster, Vito Spatafore (Joe Gannascoli) on "The Sopranos." Lt. John Grimpel of the NYPD says police were called to the actors residence after family members were unable to reach him. Costelloe, age 47 at the time of his death, was a former New York City firefighter who gained fame in 2006 when he was cast into the role of Jim “Johnny Cakes” Witowski. Costelloe was performing as a hustler in a theater production of “Gang of Seven” at the time of his death.
