NY GIANTS DEFENSIVE CAPTAIN, ANTONIO PIERCE...LOOKING TO GET OUT OF PLAX'S MESS

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Those who wondered whether Antonio Pierce would or should play for the Giants on Sunday against Philadelphia were given a direct answer Thursday by Pierce.

“Come Sunday, Antonio — No. 58 — should be on the field and will be on the field,” Pierce said after practice at Giants Stadium.

And those who wondered if or when Pierce would speak with the New York Police Departmentl CornePlaxico Burress’s gunshot incident last week got an answer from Paul J. Browne, the department’s chief spokesman.

After the police talked on Thursday to Pierce’s lawyer, Michael Bachner, Browne said Bachner would “bring him in to us” on Friday. Pierce was with Burress at a Manhattan nightclub when Burress’s gun accidentally discharged early Saturday morning, wounding Burress in the right thigh.

  4. If my friend got caught up in the same mess, I would do the same thing because I would not want to loose my job over someone else's stupidity..
