The girlfriend of actor Michael Douglas' troubled son, Cameron, was arrested after she tried to pass him 19 bags of heroin -- hidden in an electric toothbrush -- at the posh Manhattan pad owned by his mother Diandra Douglas.
Cameron Douglas, 30, was tripped up by the court-appointed guards hired to police his house arrest after he was busted for crystal-meth trafficking last month, authorities said.
The guards were watching Douglas yesterday morning at the apartment when they heard him phone someone and ask the person to bring over some personal items, especially an electric toothbrush. The person on the other end of the phone sounded like a woman, officials said.
Cameron Douglas "appeared to be very concerned about when the tooth brush would be delivered," according to court papers.
Later yesterday, Douglas' girlfriend, Kelly Sott, dropped off a black bag at the apartment. The suspicious guards opened up the brush and found it contained about 19 glassine bags.
DEA agents were called in, and they tested the bags and found that they contained heroin.
Sott insisted to investigators that she didn't know about the illicit contents. When the agents then brought her to the Gansevoort Hotel room she had shared with Douglas before his bust, they found dozens of empty bags resembling those in the brush, as well as varying amounts of heroin, marijuana and crystal meth.
Douglas was arrested last month at the hotel on charges of dealing in crystal meth.
New court documents revealed yesterday that the feds have video evidence that Sott mailed a "gift basket" from California to New York containing the suspected crystal meth.
Prosecutors said a crystal-meth user and dealer, using the phony name Paul Smith, later gave Douglas $15,000 for the drug in Douglas' hotel room.
