Third Suspect in Shooting Death of Boxer in Custody

Suspect was denied bond this morning
A third man was arrested last night in connection with the shooting death of ex-boxing champion Vernon Forrest.
Charman Sinkfield, age 30, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals at around 9 p.m. The suspect was cloaked in disguise: "a dreadlock wig, driving a black sedan on Interstate 20," said James Ergas of the service's fugitive task force.

The suspect appeared before a Magistrate this morning but was denied bond.

Ergas said officers had been trailing Sinkfield and captured him after they set up a rolling roadblock on the freeway. "It's been a very exhausting investigation. We were able to catch him with a lot of hard work," Ergas said.Camera surveillance video played a significant role in helping detective solve this murder. A camera mounted upon the a Mechanicsville apartment turned out to be a critical, silent witness.

Fellow suspects, Jquante Crews, 25, and 20-year-old Demario Ware have already been arrested for their part in the boxer's death and are in jail.
Sinkfield has been charged with murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His attorney, John Ash, s made no comments to the press at this time.
Vernon “The Viper” Forrest, a native of Augusta, Georgia, was just 38 –years-old when he was shot to death on July 25 after he chased a man who robbed him of his championship ring and Rolex watch.
