Talk about making the world a better place through your children.

Well, Herminia Rojas, a 41-year-old housekeeper and single mom of five is doing just that. Rojas, who in addition to losing her job, also lost her apartment travels three hours everyday from a Bronx shelter to schools in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn in order to afford her sons a better education.
This self-less, crusading Mami has two sons: Eduardo, age 5 and 10-year-old Jose. Rojas enrolled Eduardo in P.S. 205 because his big brother, Jose, was at the top of his class in the same school last year. Rojas and her children once lived in Bensonhurst before becoming homeless and moving into the shelter in August. Despite their living situation, Rojas' sons have excelled in school and the proof is in the pudding: Jose, whose first language is Spanish, scored perfectly on the New York State reading exam.
