In exchange, he said, Cheatam was to get the school board to rent space in the fictitious Garfield Avenue building Dwek pretended he was going to develop. The school board, he said, would have rented the space for a pre-school program.
Dwek then said he asked Cheatam, who has pleaded guilty in the case, to introduce him to others who could be bought.
"I asked Mr. Cheatam if he knew of any other public officials that he could introduce me to that I could take care of financially, give them cash, and they would help me with approvals,"
Dwek testified.
And that, he was, was how he met political consultant Jack Shaw.
Shaw, one of the 44 people arrested in the July 23 sweep, was found dead in his luxury Jersey City apartment just days after the bust. His autopsy later determined he died of a Valium overdose.
Dwek had not yet gotten to describe his meetings with Beldini when court broke for the day.
Earlier this afternoon, Dwek identified Beldini in court as someone he met with and detailed his own dirty deeds that got him the position as a government informant.
Dwek is expected to continue testifying when court resumes tomorrow morning.
