The family of 20-year-old Brittany Tarabour filed a lawsuit against the Peddie School in Hightstown, claiming the former student was sexually harassed by her teacher, Steven Lloyd, when she was 16.

A jury ruled the school was guilty because it had failed to stop the harassment. Tarabour says her 50-year-old teacher and advisor sent her over 1,600 e-mails, invited her to private dinners and would hold her hand.

The Peddie School was ordered to pay $64,000 in compensatory damages. Lloyd has resigned, but still lives in campus housing because his wife also works at the school.
