BREAKING NEWS: Trenton Police Have Made an Arrest in Rape of 15-Year-Old

Captain Joseph Juniak, acting media relations officer at the Trenton police department told The Black Urban Times moments ago that there has been an arrest of a suspect in the rape of the 15-year-old girl at the Rowan Towers.

"I am issuing a press release to media outlets announcing the arrest of a suspect in the rape of the 15-year-old female at the Rowan Towers. It's a good start as our investigation proceeds," Capt. Juniack told The Black Urban Times Thursday afternoon.

Detectives from the Trenton Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (Special Victim’s Unit) have confirmed the arrest of a 20 year-old male, in the ongoing investigation of a sexual assault that occurred at the Rowan Towers (620 West State Street) on Sunday evening, March 28, 2010.

Gregory Joseph Leary, 20, was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for engaging in sexual acts with a 15 year-old girl.

Leary is being detained at the Trenton Police Lockup awaiting arraignment in the Trenton Municipal Court.

Since learning of the sexual assault, Trenton Detectives have been working diligently to secure the identities of the suspects involved in this rape and the rape of the teenager’s seven-year-old sister during a party in an apartment on the 13th floor of the Rowan Towers Apartment Building

Both children had been reported as runaways by their parents and police were actively investigating their disappearance when the seven-year-old was brought to her parents home.

The 15 year old victim has been remanded to the Mercer County Youth Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Criminal Restraint, Terrorist Threats and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, for her alleged role in the rape of her 7 year-old sister.

Detectives are questioning several suspects regarding the alleged rape of both females and vow not to atop until all parties involved in the rape of these girls are brought to justice.

Detectives request that anyone with information concerning the rape of these girls or anyone who nay have information about suspects who participated in the rape call the Trenton Police Department at (609) 989-4170 or the TPD Confidential Tipline at (609) 989-3663. Trenton Police Detective Quinton June and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Mike Castaldo are the lead investigators.
