Richard Hartig, the Long Island Trees middle school teacher arrested in July 2009 on child pornography charges, admitted in open court Wednesday that he sent photographs to an undercover federal agent depicting children involved in sex acts.
He pleaded guilty to trafficking child pornography and his lawyer told the court that Hartig, who resigned as a schoolteacher, is undergoing treatment and was repentant for his act.
Hartig faces 5 to 20 years in prison at sentencing, but may get less time due to his cooperation with authorities, which led to the arrest of two people in California for child molestation.
