Poet's Corner: "Streets of Gold"

"I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory.
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea"
-- "Victory in Jesus" by Eugene Bartlett

The camel's broke back
Got nothing on broke pockets.
Broken and holey,
Trying to be holy;
Praying afterlife riches
More than make up
For lack of present-day gadgets.
Hoping Jesus got an iPad
Waiting up yonder. Peter jingling
The keys to a gold Escalade
Sitting on 25s ... with platinum
Spinners. Kicking it with Paul and
The archangels on Sundays,
Sipping ambrosia and watching
Morning services on a flat screen
High definition TV. Laughing!
Going to Cloud 9, heaven's nightclub,
To listen to Gabriel blow that horn
With Joshua and Dizzy. Best
Jazz trio in history. And, as you
Leave the club, you spot Adam,
The first man, and kick him in the shin
For making you wait so long
To enjoy the pleasures of the world.
