Poland is in a state of mourning as thousand lined the streets leading to the Presidential Palace to pay their respects to their President and First Lady, who died this past weekend in a horrible plane crash.

The scene was grim as mourners tossed flowers at the passing motorcade while singling their National Anthem as the hearse carrying President Lech Kaczynski body passed.

Kaczynski's daughter, Marta knelt and pressed her forehead against her father's flag-draped coffin on the tarmac at Warsaw's airport.

Grief-stricken Poland wept and prayed Sunday over the body of President Lech Kaczynski after a devastating plane crash that wiped out much of the country's leadership.

Tears rolled down the face of Kaczynski's daughter, Marta, as she knelt and pressed her forehead against her father's flag-draped coffin on a tarmac at Warsaw's airport.

Kaczynski, 60, his wife and most of Poland's military and financial leadership were killed after their plane attempted to land amid dense fog near the Katyn forest in Russia.

The President's body will lie in state during a national week of mourning in Poland.
