Rutgers University, the eighth oldest institution of higher education in the nation, has plans to expand it's Livingston campus in Piscataway to the tune of $85 million.

Administrators, eyeing a spike in enrollment, also saw the needs of it's undergraduate business program and professional studies growing and decided it was time to expand in a big way, beginning with a long-term plan to redevelop their business program.

The expansion will boast 156,000-square-feet of lecture halls, instructional labs, classrooms, meeting spaces, a mock trading floor, a business library, faculty offices and student lounges in order to accomadate the enrollment spike Rutgers President Richard McCormick expects to occurr over the next several years bringing the number of undergraduate students to 3,200 from it's current 1,900.

The construction, set to begin next spring, is set to be completed by the start of the 2013 fall semester.
