Updated reports on Dancehall artist, Mad Cobra (Ewart Brown) shot in Jamaica earlier this week are still vague, but the Jamaican Observer has reported that Brown was transported to a hospital in Spanish Town suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Mr Vegas, fellow reggae artist and organizer for music group Voicemail, led a vigil outside of Kingston Public Hospital where dancehall artist Oneil Edwards,36, remains hospitalized as he continues fighting for his life.

The artists gathered, singing and praying for Edwards recovery. Those attending the vigil were Byron Lee and Ashley Martin, lead singer of the Dragonaires; Stone Love selector, Geefus, Macka Diamond, Bugle, Raine, Nicky B and D'Angel.

The Jamaican Observer reports the singer's vital signs have stabilized with brain swelling having decreased. Edwards, shot three times in the head, chest and abdomen, lost one of his fingers as a result of the shooting.

Hospital officials say before the singer was sedated, he moved other fingers, opened his eyes and acknowledged those around him giving hope that his condition would continue to improve.

The investigation into Edwards shooting suggests that the assailants attempted to rob the dancehall artist in front of his home early Monday morning. Detectives working the case say they are attempting to apprehend individuals they believe are responsible for the shooting.

"We have been working on some strong leads, which have so far led us to the recovery of the artist's cellular phone which was robbed from him," Deputy Superintendent Michael Hugh Phipps of Area 4 told The Gleaner.
