Crude Covered Pelicans: Save our Waters!

Heavily oiled brown pelicans, captured at Grand Isle, Louisiana, wait to be cleaned of Gulf spill crude. They are among dozens of birds brought to the Fort Jackson Wildlife Care Center in Buras, La., on Thursday.

As officials approached to survey the damage the Gulf oil spill caused in coastal marshes, some brown pelicans couldn't fly away Sunday. All they could do was hobble.
