An Easton mother was killed on Route 33 in Sciota as she drove her two daughters Melinda Gruber, 3, and Adriana Gruber, 5, to a play date Friday.

Police say both girls, who were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, survived the three-car crash with moderate injuries. Melinda has a broken leg and Adriana a broken arm. Their mother, Olimpia Centorame-Gruber, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:30 p.m. accident.

According to the Pocono Record, Swiftwater State police say Gruber's car was in the northbound lane when it crossed the median and went into the southbound lane, hitting two other cars, injuring Robert Texidor, 51, of Stroudsburg and 30-year-old Aaron Lorrigan, of Neenah, Wisconsin.

Texidor suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Pocono Medical Center. Lorrigan did not require hospitalization for what police say were minor injuries.

"She was my soul mate, my best friend, my confidante, mother of my children,” husband Bruce Gruber tearfully told the Pocono Record of his wife, Olimpia.

Bruce Gruber met his wife through a family friend and had been together 10 years. He said there was nothing more important to his wife than her little girls.

Police continue to investigate the crash. If you have information on the accident, call police at 570-839-7701.
