Police are searching for a drug-swallowing fugitive who missed a court date this month after he was charged with possession of heroin, resisting arrest and tampering with evidence.
Brian King, 40, was arrested in New Brunswick on January 14 after undercover officers conducting surveillance on Carmen Street in the City observed King walk down Carmen street and sit on the porch of a home where a man on a bicycle, known to police as a drug dealer, approached King and the two men walked off together.
According to an article in the Courier-News, undercover officers observed the bicycle man slipping King two packets of heroin in exchange for cash. King dropped the packets, then stooped to pick them up before he continued walking up Carmen Street.
Officers say they followed King to a Commercial Avenue gas station where they confronted him. As the officers approached King, he allegedly swallowed the heroin in an attempt to destroy the evidence.
The officers prevented King from ingurgitating the evidence and placed him under arrest. King was indicted on all three charges April 14 and released on bail. When he failed to appear for a June 11 status conference, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
King is 6-feet, 1-inch tall, weighs about 170 pounds and his last known address was the 100 block of Nichol Avenue in New Brunswick.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office is asking anyone with information on King's whereabouts to call 732-745-3362 during weekdays and 732-745-3300 on nights and weekends.
Authorities urge anyone who may come into contact with the fugitive to call police and not attempt to apprehend him. The Prosecutor's office offers rewards up to $500 for information leading to the capture of fugitives wanted within the county.
