False Bomb Threat Clears JFK on Independence Day

Approximately 300 passengers in New York City's JFK Airport were evacuated Sunday due to a bomb scare that turned out to be a false alarm.

Officials evacuated Terminal 1 around 6 p.m. Sunday after an anonymous caller told officials there was a bomb at the airport, and at the same time someone else reported seeing an unattended bag.

Port Authority spokesman John Kelly told CNN police checked the bag but did not find an explosive device. Passengers were allowed to return to the terminal an hour later.
