Forecasters said another round of humid, hot temperatures will continue to bake the Garden State this week as highs are set to reach into the mid-to upper 90s. The worse days are looking like Tuesday and Wednesday, when temperatures could soar to 100 degrees.
The state Department of Environmental Protection issued an air quality health advisory that expired at 10 p.m. Sunday. The alert meant air quality in the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.
New Jerseyans are urged to stay in the air-condition when you can, drink a lot of water and avoid prolonged exposure to the heat and sun, especially individuals suffering with respiratory illnesses. Wunderground.com is calling for a sunny and hot Monday with temperatures in the upper 90's.
Residents will find a relief during the evening hours as lows drop into the mid-70s.
In some parts of the state the heat wave combined with low rainfall have triggered high water usage that led officials in Monmouth County to issue mandatory water restrictions and has Ocean County asking residents in seven communities to voluntarily conserve water, The Star-Ledger reported.
The company serves 17 of the 21 counties in New Jersey, but as of Sunday only Monmouth and Ocean had water restrictions. The mandatory restrictions include Bay Head, Brick Township, Lavallette, Lakewood, Mantoloking, Ortley Beach and Toms River barrier islands.
