Former Newark Child Care Center Manager Sentenced in Sex Assault Case

Three months after a Newark man pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting three boys he met after befriending their mothers, he has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison, Essex County authorities told APP.com.

Police said Jose Reyes, 35, at his home and other locations, molested the victims, who were between the ages 6 and 12 at the time of the assaults.


At sentencing Thursday, Superior Court Judge Robert H. Gardner said Reyes must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.


Reyes is set to serve his sentence at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel. He will be required, Under Megan’s Law, to register as a sex offender when he is released and is subject to lifetime of supervised parole.....full article here
