Long Branch Man Charged in Seaview Projects Murder

The Long Branch man charged in the June 24 murder of a 22-year-old man made his first appearance in a Freehold courtroom Thursday.

Lamont Williams, 25, of High Street has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes in connection with the death of Shar-ron Jackson.

According to APP.com, police were called to the Seaview Manor public housing complex in Long Branch around 11 p.m. June 24. after receiving multiple 911 calls about shots fired. When they arrived, they found Jackson lying outside. He was transported to Monmouth Medical Center where he pronounced dead after midnight on June 25.

Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Lipp handed Williams a copy of the criminal complaint during the brief hearing, in which Williams, who surrendered to police Wednesday, told Superior Court Judge Thomas F. Scully that he believed his family planned to hire a private defense attorney to handle his case, the APP.com reported. Williams remains in jail in lieu of a $1.51 million cash-only bond.
