Former Giants Linebacker a No-Show in Court on Sex Charges

Former linebacker Lawrence Taylor was a no-show at his first court appearance Wednesday in Rockland County.

Taylor pleaded not guilty July 13 to statutory third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act, which involves oral sex, as well as to misdemeanor charges involving a 16-year-old girl from the Bronx who told police she was forced to have sex with Taylor at his hotel room in Ramapo.

Investigators say Taylor paid the girl's alleged pimp $300 for the act.
During an hour-long bench conference Wednesday, Taylor's attorney, Arthur Aidala, said his client was essentially "duped by a young girl’s lie."

The victim allegedly told Taylor she was 19, not days shy of her 17th birthday.
"We’re talking about different aspects of the case," he told reporters afterward.
"Taylor is at home in Florida, waiting for my phone call."

In the conference with prosecutors and Judge William Kelly, Aidala was overheard heard insisting, "She did lie," in reference to the underage victim who says she had sex with the football legend under duress from her alleged pimp, who is facing federal sex trafficking charges for bringing the young girl from the Bronx to Taylor's hotel room.

Taylor's next court date has been set for Sept. 24.
