UPDATE: Death Toll at 8 in Connecticut Shooting

A warehouse driver who was asked to resign his job at a beer distributor refused and then opened fire Tuesday morning, a company executive said. Police said the gunman and several other people were killed and others were wounded, officials said.

The gunfire erupted inside Hartford Distributors about 7 a.m., police said. As many as eight people have been killed in the shooting, according to the Hartford Courant.

Police sources said the gunman, identified as 34-year-old Omar Thornton, was found dead inside the building before 9 a.m.

Connecticut police say a man employed at Hartford Beer Distributors as a warehouse worker opened fire at the warehouse after he was called in to resign,1010wins.com reported.

Reports say at least three people have been shot at
