Director Michael "Boogie" Pinckney is set to make his directorial debut with upcoming film, "You're Nobody 'til Somebody Kills You."

Web site IMDb said the film, which is still in post-production status, has no definitive release date though New York based writer and director, Pinckney, recently completed principal photography on the film.

Filmed on location in New York City, "You're Nobody 'til Somebody Kills You" is the story of two New York City homicide detectives assigned to track a serial killer with a blood thirsty appetite for heavyweights of the hip hop industry. An intriguing web of sex, money and murder unfolds as the homicide detectives track their suspect.

Actor Neko Parham of HBO's "The Corner" is set to star opposite familiar faces who've taken a break from the hip hop scene, such as Big Daddy Kane and Greg "Greg Nice" Mays of Bronx bred rap duo "Nice & Smooth." Nice & Smooth first appeared on Kane's song, "Pimpin Ain't Easy" in 1989.

Kane, whose real name is Antonio Monterio Hardy, is said to be working on a new album with his band "Connie Price and the Keystones," along with Darnell Chavis from the 90's group, Solo, called "The Last Supper". The album is said to have a classic Hip-Hop & R&B vibe to it.

Pinckney, whose film production experience spans ten years, piqued the interest of long-time producer/director Spike Lee, who is the films Executive Producer.

Pinckney began his career working as a production assistant on films like "Girl 6," "Clockers," "New Jersey Drive," "Crooklyn," and "Malcolm X" before graduating to assistant director on films such as "Summer of Sam", "Bamboozled", "The Best Man", and Lee's newest film "The Inside Man" staring Denzel Washington and Jodie Forster.

Pinckney, who is poised to bring a fresh perspective to the independent film universe, is a graduate of the State University of New York at Purchase and holds degrees in Sociology and Film and Theatre Arts.
