The murder Fernando Suriel, owner of "Fernando Deli and Lunch," a Lexington Ave. and E. 100th St bodega in East Harlem, has police and relatives of the man baffled. Suriel, 52, was found shot three times in his vehicle Saturday evening.

Described as a "kind" man, one relative told the NY Post, "there will never be another person like him (Suriel) again. He was real kind," said the man, who would not give his name. "I don't know why anyone would kill him."

Police continue to investigate the 5:30 p.m. shooting, but have ruled out robbery as a motive because Suriel, who was from Yonkers, still had his wallet and cell phone on him when he was found by police in his red GMC truck.

Suriel was rushed to Harlem Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to his legs and arms, but died a short time later.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing three gunshots, then seeing two men running away from the area where Suriel's truck was parked on E. 131 Street and Park Avenue, but it was not clear if police believe the men were involved with Suriel's murder. Investigators recovered three 9-mm. shell casings from the crime scene.
As of Tuesday, police had announced no suspects in connection with the homicide.
