Urban schools have metal detectors..so why not the suburban schools too?

On this post deadly day of the Ohio school shooting massacre that's taken 3 young innocent lives already. The question glares death in the face of "why don't suburban schools have metal detectors?" Since the 80's metal detectors have been a staple of urban school districts everywhere. We saw them in movies like "lean on me" and "dangerous minds", but they've never been part of the suburban culture..why?

Is it that the communities in the suburbs want to believe they are different from urban schools? Do they feel better and more protected? The statistics show that the last 20 years of school shooting have taken place at schools in predominantly suburban, caucasian areas with few minorities. So why do these parents sacrifice the safety of their school children everyday? Is it to make them feel like they're superior?

The answers don't make any sense for the question raised. In 2012, suburban schools and parents need to do us all a favor and invest in the same equipment used at the TSA screenings at Kennedy airport. The "suburbs" might lose face, but at least we wouldn't have another funeral to attend of a student cut down at the height of their promising future.
