When author Julia Press Simmons, little did she know that by sharing parts of her experience in fictionalized form she would touch the hearts of readers around the world. With her Queen Midas Books, she put out a series of books from 2009 through 2011 centered on Strawberry Mansion - a section of North Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
Julia Press Simmons takes street lit in a different direction. Violence, sex and drugs are an integral part of the Strawberry Mansion series. These aspects of inner-city life are not used to glorify negativity. Instead, they are used to depict the harshness in which many young females have to survive.
