NEW YORK (AdAge.com ) — Vibe magazine is cutting its paid circulation 25%, reducing its frequency to 10 issues a year from 12, and merging its print and digital editorial operations, all in the magazine industry’s latest response to the twin attacks by recession and new media.

In addition to internal restructuring, Vibe is avoiding layoffs by adopting a four-day workweek accompanied by 10% to 15% pay cuts for its employees.

But Vibe is also departing from the standard playbook by introducing a twice-a-year newsstand-only celebrity tabloid. It plans to increase the subscription price for its flagship. Is Kanye West Serious?

You thought he caused controversy by calling President Bush out on national television and saying he disliked Black people, or when he publicly called an end for gay-bashing in Hip Hop music during a period of people constantly questioning his own sexual preference. But Kanye West has a new idea to cause even more controversy and attention to himself - he plans to pose NUDE! In the February issue of Vibe Magazine the Hip Hop artist said, "I definitely feel, like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I'll pose naked. I break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture." It wouldn't be true 'Kanye Tradition' if Kanye didn't have some sort of cocky comment to follow the statement. He feels as though when he goes bare, it's going to overshadow every artist before him who showed their goods. Commenting on recording artist Bjork - Kanye said, "If she wanted to pose naked, you'd (public and media) be like, 'Oh, that's Bjork.' But if I wanted to pose naked, people would draw all type of things into it." Oh Kanye... *crickets*
