Tips For Filing Your Taxes and Filing For Unemployment

Tax season can be a scary and stressful time of year for all…especially those individuals who have recently become unemployed. Unfortunately, even if you were unemployed throughout (not the entire year) 2008 you are still required to report to Massa…I mean Uncle Sam.

Sources say that almost 2.5 million jobs were lost during 2008 and it hasn’t been this bleak since the mid ‘40’s. Unemployment is at a 16-year high according to the Labor Department and I believe it. Almost every other person I have run into has either been unemployed for most of 2008 or became unemployed during the last two months of 2008.
To add injury to insult, we were paying astronomical prices for gas and food. Couple that with being unemployed or having your hours cut, and well, you can imagine the rest. I have compiled some questions and answers here along with some tips on everything from filing taxes, where (my dad has a CPA firm in Manhattan), help for homeowners, job hunters, etc.
