'You've Got Mail!' A New Way To Deliver STD News in Brazil

Talk about modern technology and convenience. The Brazilian Health Ministry has created a Web site to let people inform partners that they have a sexually transmitted disease via an e-mailed virtual postcard.
An official in charge of the ministry's STD and AIDs programs notes that many people have a hard time telling partners they're infected.
Mariangela Simao stated that health officials created the new program with the hopes that by making it less difficult or confrontational to inform a former or current partner, those infected with STD's may be more likely to inform those potentially infected.Simao also said that the e-mails may help people "to tackle these diseases directly and with minimum exposure."
One of the cards shows a young man reclining in his underwear. It reads: "Hi! I don't know if this is the best way to tell you, but I've learned that I have an STD." The card suggests the recipient see a doctor.
Reclining in his undies and shooting off an e-mail that says, "Hi! I don't know if this is the best way to tell you, but I've learned that I have an STD" seems just a tad bit, well, cheerful.
Be a man...be a woman and face the person you infected or you just might get an e-mail of your own that reads something like this: "Hi, STD, huh? Well, you're about to get a beat down. See ya soon!"
