Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter has announced that their office has received the body of actress Brittany Murphy and that an autopsy will be conducted to try to determine what led to the actresses death.
LACCO will perform toxicology tests, but it will be weeks before any final determination on a cause of death is made.
Murphy's family told officials that the actress had been ill recently with flu-like symptoms.
The 32-year-old "8 Mile" star collapsed in her Hollywood Hills home on Sunday and died of cardiac arrest.
Resuscitation efforts by LAFD paramedics were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Murphy's husband and family issued this statement: "The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy. She was our daughter, our wife, our love, and a shinning star. We ask you to respect our privacy at this difficult time."
Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Murphy have yet to be announced.
