Plainfield Teacher Makes Grammy's, Super Bowl

Stefanie Minatee, a Plainfield Public Schools vocal teacher will perform at the Super Bowl today. It's been quite a year for the 52-year-old teacher. She was honored at the Grammys less than a month ago.

Minatee directs and performs in the renowned Newark-based Jubilation choir, which performed backup vocals on the title track of "Oh Happy Day: An All-Star Music Celebration" — the 2009 album that on Jan. 31 won the Grammy for Best Traditional Gospel Album.

Today, Minatee will sing backup vocals for Queen Latifah's performance of "America the Beautiful," which is scheduled to take place prior to kickoff of Super Bowl XLIV in Miami.

"This is definitely something to remember," Minatee said. "I have never had a week, or even two weeks, like this. I'm sitting here now and the staff at Plainfield High School brought me an incredible food arrangement, I got roses yesterday, and the kids are so excited."
Best of luck to Ms. Minatee!
