A 1981 Bronx homicide has been solved thanks to DNA technology.
Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson says advanced DNA technology helped investigators bring the 30 year-old cold case to a close by using the preserved fingernail clippings of the victim which had been saved.
In 1981, the partially clad body of Tolila Brown was discovered in an abandoned lot in the Bronx. Police found a scarf wrapped around her neck that had been tightened with a chisel.
On Wednesday, Bronx prosecutors charged Jesus Aguilera with second-degree murder in connection with Brown's murder.
Aguilera, who is currently serving two life sentences for unrelated murders, has pleaded not guilty.
