Deeply touched by the gang rape of a seven-year-old girl in Trenton last week, rapper Jay-Z has teamed up with other hip-hop moguls to attend the "Stop the Violence" rally being held in Trenton, New Jersey.

Jay-Z, 40(nee Shawn Carter), a Brooklyn native, will be joined by community activists, Reverend Al Sharpton, Fitrah Muhammad and Peace Keepers founder, Dennis Muhammad to send the message that violence against the people and children in the community is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Fitrah Muhammad told the Trentonian that the message of this rally is to “stop violence against our babies and community at large.”

Dennis Muhammad added, "It’s about a 7-year-old girl who was gang raped."

Multi-millionaire producer and author Russell Simmons is hosting the event, which is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on April 10 (Saturday), at The Lighthouse Outreach ministry on Bellevue Avenue in Trenton.

The rally, organized by Trenton mayoral candidate Emmanuel Shahid Watson, supports the mission statements of organizations like The Peace Keepers, funded by Simmons, which uses mentors to curb violence and crime in communities by fostering a sense of pride and hope in communities besieged by violence, drugs and crime.

Video taped messages by rappers Chuck D., Ludacris and Trenton native Wise Intelligent of the Poor Righteous Teachers will be featured during the event.

Jay-Z, who once attended Trenton High School, was ranked as the 10th best overall artist of 2000-2009 by Billboard Magazine and was crowned as the "Greatest MC Of All Time” by MTV.

He is one of the four wealthiest hip-hop artists/producers besides 50 cent, Russell Simmons and Sean Combs.

The rally is a community response to the horrifying news of the gang rapes of 15 and seven year old sisters at the Rowan Towers apartment complex last week by several males while at a party.

Police say the 15-year-old, who is currently remanded to a juvenile detention facility, sold sex to men and boys at the party, then accepted money from them to touch her stepsister. The touching escalated to rape. Police have arrested five men accused of committing the rapes and are still searching for others believed to have taken part in the gang rapes.

"We need the community to continue helping us," Police Captain Joseph Juniack told the New Jersey Newsroom. "This is going to be a lengthy investigation, but we will not stop until everybody that was in that apartment and participated in these crimes is arrested," said Juniak.

The "Stop the Violence" rally is free, but space is limited. Tickets are available at the Lighthouse Outreach Ministry (715 Bellevue Ave.) at 6 p.m. Tuesday. For further information call (609) 989-9992.
