Lamumba Malik Boyd Wanted in Murder of Eugene Smith

Lamumba Malik Boyd is wanted by Charlotte Mecklenburg Police and the F.B.I. for a shooting which occurred July 11, 1999 leaving Eugene Smith dead following an argument over money.

According to Boyd's most wanted poster, Smith and Boyd argued over money Boyd allegedly owed Smith. Smith reportedly damaged a door at Boyd's home and fired shots into the air as he left the residence. During the evening hours of July 11, Boyd went to Martino’s Restaurant where Smith was working, then followed him to the parking lot where another altercation began. Police say it was at that time that Boyd fired several shots at Smith before fleeing in a Cadillac.

Boyd, born December 12, 1976, is described as African American with black hair and brown eyes. He wears his hair in dred locks but may have cut them to alter his appearance. He stands at 6'1" and weighs 150 pounds.

Detectives are asking for help in locating Boyd and other wanted individuals so that they can be face the charges against them and give the victims' families some sense of closure.

Investigators say Boyd should be considered armed and dangerous.
