A Mott Haven strip club has come under the watchful eyes of the 40th Precinct after a series of violent crimes that culminated  in the shooting of two men who were partying at the Sin City nightclub.

Deputy Inspector Christopher McCormack, commanding officer of the 41st Precinct referred to patrons of the Park Avenue nightclub as "the worst of the worst," The Mott Haven Herald reported.

Since the beginning of the year police have answered 14 calls in the area, which they directly attribute to club patrons. Many of those arrested had extensive rap sheets that included arrests and convictions for narcotics violations and other felonies, said police.

In February, a dispute with management at Sin City prompted one patron to retrieve a 9mm handgun from his car. Thankfully no shots were fired. The suspect and another man attempted to flee the scene on foot but were arrested by police.

Police reports say on the evening of March 23, 2012, one of the men were treated for a gunshot wound at Lincoln Hospital while the other was treated for the same injury at an unnamed hospital. Both men were shot at Sin City.

Two Killed in Unsolved Murders in Mott Haven
Two months after the shootings and ruckus at the nightclub, police found themselves investigating the brutal beating death of a 16-year-old boy in the Melrose Housing Projects on Morris Avenue. The complex is not far from the Sin City nightclub.

Moises “Noah” Lora, 16, was beaten by a group of people as others looked on. The teenager, who lived in the building where he was beaten, was rushed to nearby Lincoln Hospital where he died of his injuries.

The day before the Lora murder, police found Terrance Martin dead at 285 E. 156th Street. The 26-year-old man died of a gunshot wound to the back of his head. No arrests have been made in either case and the investigations continue.

In addition tot the murders, three people had their cell phones snatched while either riding the bus, standing at the bus stop or standing on a street corner near Lincoln Avenue and 138th Street. Officials say all three victims have fingered the same miscreant as the phone culprit. It was not clear if the thief has been arrested.

Patterson Projects Residents Take a Stand Against Violence
Residents of the Patterson Projects, fed up with rising crime and other issues within their neighborhood, staged a protest in March along with members of  Occupy the Garden demanding an end to gun violence, other crimes and police brutality.

The President of the Patterson Projects Residents Association, Wallace Hassan said protesters were not only calling for an end in crime, but resolution to quality of life issues such as family problems within the projects.

"Parents want to be friends to their kids instead of being parents," Hassan told the Bronx Journal.

Other residents added that there is a dire need not just for housing, but affordable housing with many people returning to the neighborhood from prison and the war. Occupy the Garden Activist, Rafael Mutis added, "The definition of affordable is different for developers, the city and the residents."

Protester and activist Gregory Nichols, chanted, "Stop the violence, increase the peace! Stop the violence, increase the police!"the Bronx Journal reported.

Carmen Rodriguez echoed Nichols statement adding that children could not play outside after school because of the state of deterioration their neighborhood has come to.
