. Lets start with what your metabolism is. The Wikipedia definition describes it as a set of chemical reaction that happen in the cells of living organisms to sustain life. The metabolism determines what substances you input will be nutritious and what substances it will find poisonous. I describe it as the body's ability to process your caloric intake into energy that it can use to function properly.The bodies ability to burn calories. The metabolism is one way to help control excess body fat.

Your metabolism is one of the most important assets you have in controlling body fat. Caloric intake is how you keep an eye on how fast and how slow your metabolism is. As you age your metabolism will take a dump on you each year slowing down. Yet it is a difference engine that you control. If as it slows down on its own you contribute to it by in-taking more calories and more of the poisonous substances you will inevitably gain and hold onto that excess body fat that you desperately want to get rid of. In order to speed up your metabolism you must treat it as an engine and not if you are hungry or not. Feed the metabolism on a schedule so that it know when to hold on and when to let go of nutritious or poisonous substances.
