I remember being at a bible study, and as we read through scripture after scripture of the bible i remember thinking to myself "this is bull" Not only did I not want to be there, not only was I not learning anything, I felt that if i asked what I REALLY wanted to know there was potential to be a misunderstanding.
I continued to nod off from boredom, and then the "child of controversy" kicked in I raised my hand and asked a question. The instructor says "yes Orrin?" and y'all I truly did try to stop myself from asking but it seemed as if my mouth had made up its mind that "damnit Orrin, your asking and question so get ready.
I say "everyone knows the story of how the devil was kicked out of heaven, and yes the bible makes mention of it, but where did the actual story come from? I go on to say "the ACTUAL story isn't in the bible so how can we confirm that this is the actual story if the story took place before the first man and woman were created?
The bible study teacher gives me a blank look as if he was confused at first by my question, then a sudden anger comes over him as if i was questioning the validity of the entire Christian faith.
He pokes out his chest and says "HOLD ON NOW!!!! what are you trying to say!!!??? As if he had made up his mind that I was mocking our/his spirituality with my question. Seeing how angry my question made him I backed off the question and dummied it up so he could relax.
What am I saying? well my friends, readers, and critics I am saying that the congregation is restless and we are tired of being taught the same thing from different perspectives. What if I was a non believer, what if I was atheist, or agnostic, anything else.
How can we as Christians "preach" forgiveness and understanding when we get irritated by questions the lost have. I for one am sick of the smugness of the "religious" I for one am sick of the "if my answer isn't good enough for you, then tough" attitude. Lets stop looking at non believers as hell bound lost souls and give them a REAL reason to look to God.
I am sick of the "ALL TALK" christian community I am done with people who put more faith in their pastor than Jesus.
See, the "religious" will tell you "some cant be saved", They will tell you that any action unbecoming of what "their" perception of Christianity is sadly, is unbecoming of a christian.
The religious will tell you that listening to your favorite radio station puts certain spirits on you and that you should fill your ears with nothing praise and worship music. I guess they haven't accounted for the spirits at work, or at the mall or anywhere else you will and can be on a day to day basis.
Yes, the "religious" will say Guys Like Orrin have lost faith and their right friends I have. But I haven't Lost faith in God, because I know he is my beginning and end the very reason I am able to accomplish every single thing I set my mind to. I have Lost faith in Religion and the religious and that's what they have a problem with.
