Reuters deputy social media editor, Matthew Keys has been charged in a federal indictment for allegedly conspiring with members of the hacker group “Anonymous” to hack into a Tribune Company website, the Justice Department announced today.

A press release states that Keys allegedly encouraged Anonymous hackers members to disrupt the Tribune Company's web site after providing the group with a login and password to access the company's server.

According to the indictment Keys was also served with notice of forfeiture provision for property traceable to the offense he has been charged with. If convicted, Keys faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 for each count.

Tribune media has not issued a statement on Keys' arrest.
