Singer Bobby Brown will not stay in the Los Angeles County Detention Center for his 2012 drunk driving conviction, 11Alive News reported.

Brown, the former husband of late superstar, Whitney Houston, was taken into custody at the courthouse in Van Nuys courthouse on Wednesday and ordered to serve 55-days in the County jail, but was released after serving only nine hours.

Steve Whitmore, Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman, while Brown is eligible for in-home electronic monitoring he is still technically in-custody and will also be monitored by probation officials.

The former "New Edition" band mate, arrested in April 2012, pleaded no contest to a drunken driving offense, driving with a suspended license and violating his probation. During an October 2012 traffic stop on Ventura Boulevard, Brown, 44, was arrested again after a police officer detected a "strong scent" of alcohol on Brown's breath.

The "My Perrogotive" singer will be able to ditch the electronic bracelet after eight days, the same amount of time he would have spent incarcerated, according to his attorney, Christopher Brown, who added that Brown had accepted responsibility for the 2012 arrest and was happy the legal matter had been resolved.
