Two Ohio students learned the a night of wilding and rape will send them to prison for at least one year. Steubenville High School 16-year-old Trent Mays, and Ma'lik Richmond, 17, will now bear the shame of being rapists after they attacked a 16-year-old female while attending an alcohol-fueled party last summer that got out of hand.
Both defendants could serve their time at a juvenile detention center, and could serve time until they reach the age of twenty-one. Sadly, this case has no winners. The poor decisions made by young people...and now they all must suffer.

"There is plenty of room to demonstrate your good character. There is also plenty of room to make mistakes." -- Judge Lipps
Mays and Richmond will begin their sentence today. The defendants will be detained at a facility just northwest of Columbus, Ohio where they will be assessed and then placed to serve their sentences. The case has scandalized America and scarred the small town of Steubenville, Ohio.
"So much of what happens with their future depends upon their attitude and how they embrace their rehabilitation," said Judge Lipps.source
