If you wanted a burger and fries Thursday, you didn't have a lot of luck in Manhattan. That was the day that employees at restaurants such as McDonald's, Burger
King, Taco Bell and others in New York City staged a walk-out in order to demand better wages.
Organizers
scheduled the walk out to commemorate on the day Reverend Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr. was assassinated 45 years ago in Memphis at the Lorianne Hotel.
Employees like Elba Godoy, a crew member at a McDonald's near Times Square, said her meager $7.25-per-hour wage does not help her survive. She cares for herself and family and it's just not enough.
