REAL TALK: YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES NEED TO STOP LOOKING UP TO A FORMER DRUG DEALER...LIKE JAY Z

BY GEEK SWAGG

So JAY Z gave his sugar water interview to Elliot Wilson, who can never ask any tough questions of any hip-hop artist.
What are your thoughts? Do we tell our young men to follow JAY Z and go out and sell drugs, live the fast life, become a rapper and businessman.. only to lose all respect in social circles of civil rights heroes, like Malcolm, King, and Belafonte. Its not that we don't respect JAY Z as a rap artist and businessman, but African-americans have so many others to look up to who used their education to get to the pinnacle level of greatness they are in today. HATER..yes this is what they will say after reading this, but at the same time through a father's eyes, JAY Z, is seen as being a GOD in some young African-american boy's eyes and the reality is that it needs to stop.
The "hip-hop media" is so complicit in telling a one-sided story. They are like rappers' cheerleaders, never questioning their lyrics, their past history, or their responsibilities. The show of greatness is there..that is without question. JAY Z is one of the greatest rappers and businessmen alive..period. The other side to that is how did he get there and why should that trophy be hoisted high above the shoulders of young men to aspire to become, rather than working hard at studying and hitting the books and becoming President of the United States. That is the true champion young African-american males need to look up to, not that JAY Z is not a great rapper and businessman, but that's all he is and nothing more.
