News Headlines For Today

In Latina News: Current Latin Grammy nominee, Concha Buika’s first New York performance at BAM in 2007 was phenomenal. She returns to NYC for her much awaited encore. WEPA!
For my readers unfamiliar with “La Reina” she is the only Latinegra (of African Descent) in her native Palma de Mallorca and was trained by Mallorca gypsies in the art of traditional "cante" flamenco. Her music mixes flamenco and coplas with soul and jazz.
Her second album, Mi Niña Lola, included traditional Spanish Copla songs (Mi Niña Lola, Ojos Verdes, Te Camelo) and flamenco rhythms of “tanguillos” and “bulerías” and is a favorite of mine. When asked to define herself, she said, "Yo soy bisexual, trifásica y tridimensional." Which means “I am bisexual, three-phase and three-dimensional. Buika is the mother of one son.


CNN Money is reporting that: For all of you frequent flyers, JetBlue airlines is offering all-you-can-fly plan for $599. The “catch” is: you must fly between 8 September and 8 October. You have to buy the $599 pass by Aug. 21 and taxes and fees are included for domestic flights, and changes or cancellations made less than three days before departure cost $100.

CNN News Reports that: In July, the U.S. defecit budget rose to an all-time high of $180 Billion. Total deficit for the last 10 months is $1.3 trillion. Where’s all of this money going and how are we ever going to recover from this?

CNN Money news says: Economic recovery, but advises us to “hold the champagne” because relief is still months away. Sigh

The NYDailyNews Says: Scandal shouldn’t cost Coach Pitino his job. The opinion is: it should cost him his reputation…for messing around in the first place.

The NYPOST Says: Hillary Clinton had a hissy fit the other day and made it clear that she is running the show, not Bill.

The NYDailyNews Says: The Jackson sisters are getting busy these days: Janet’s on a new album and LaToya might be dancing with the stars.

The NYDailyNews Says: Two children in Brooklyn died Tuesday. Marcus Olivier and Devin Joseph Jr. died after each fell out of the windows of their Flatbush apartments.
