Amtrak, NJ Transit Service Outage Derails Commuters

Amtrak officials say restoration crews are in the process of restoring power along the Northeast Corridor after low voltage problems suspended train service between New York City, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia to Harrisburg, Pa.

NJ Transit officials said the hour long outage caused North Jersey Coast Line train service along the Northeast Corridor to function 60 to 90 minutes behind schedule. Midtown Direct trains are still diverting to Hoboken. Tuesday's derailment is the second in less than two weeks that commuters have had to deal with. The first came after a fallen tree knocked out power and rail signals.
