Hurricane Katrina Documentary: 'Trouble The Water'


National Geographic TV featured "Trouble the Water" a documentary filmed by aspiring rap artist and New Orleans native, Kimberly Rivers Roberts. It was amazing. If you missed it, you'll have another chance to watch it Sunday (tomorrow).

Roberts, whose home was once located at 1538 France St. in New Orleans' 9th Ward, did an excellent job filming her neighbors in addition to her own struggle to re-invent her life post Katrina. The film won a 2008 Sundance award and was nominated for an Academy Award.This is an up close and personal view of what many New Orleans residents suffered through and how many rose from the ashes of a ravaged city. 9th Ward couple relishes road to the Oscar red carpet

The husband and wife team, Kimberly Rivers Roberts and Scott Roberts, stars of the Oscar-nominated Hurricane Katrina documentary "Trouble the Water," which is built around home video shot by Kim Roberts before, during and after Hurricane Katrina flooded her France Street home -- detoured through Utah, New York and Washington, D.C. They went through San Francisco, Denver and myriad other film-festival cities.

On Feb. 22, more than three years after their journey began, they arrived.

Scott Roberts, who had never set foot outside Louisiana before the storm, and Kim were on the Oscar ceremony's red carpet, amid the rich, the famous and the flashbulbs.
