Doctor of 'Octo-Mom' May Lose Medical License

The doctor who implanted 14 embryos into "Octomom," Nadya Suleman may get his license revoked if the state medical board has it's way, CNN.COM reported.

According to an attorney for the state's medical board, Beverly Hills fertility specialist Dr. Michael Kamrava should have his medical license revoked for ignoring standard guidelines and also should have referred Suleman to a mental health specialist when she came to him looking to add more children to her family of six, the official complaint read.
Suleman, divorced and unemployed at the time she gave birth to octuplets in January 2009, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in child and adolescent development from California State University at Fullerton (2006). She was pursuing a master's degree in counseling at Fullerton CSU, but dropped out of school in 2008.

The California medical board stated that Kamrava endangered Suleman's health and that of her babies by implanting 14 embryos into her over a 12 year period of time.

Suleman, whose birth name is Natalie Denise Doud-Suleman Gutierrez, is 35 years-old and the mother of 14 children she raises with the help of her mother and public assistance.

Her octuplets are only the second full set of octuplets to be born alive in the United States and, one week after their birth, surpassed the previous worldwide survival rate for a complete set of octuplets set by the Chukwu octuplets in 1998.

Public reaction towards Suleman turned critical when it was disclosed that she was already a single mother of six children and was receiving public assistance since losing her job as a psychiatric technician at Metropolitan State Hospital. Suleman conceived the octuplets and her six older children via in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

Kamrava, who was expelled from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in October 2009, has two weeks set aside for the hearing to determine whether he was negligent.
