Marcus Jackson, the former Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer charged with sexually assaulting several women while he was on duty is no longer in Charlotte-Mecklenburg county jail.

The Black Urban Times learned that Jackson was transferred from Charlotte Friday, December 10 and transported to the North Carolina Department of Corrections in Craven County to serve his sentence.

Jackson, 26, pleaded guilty to an array of charges stemming from his 2009 arrest including kidnapping and felony restraint. In all, the state slapped the disgraced officer with six felonies and 10 misdemeanors.

Jackson will spend approximately two years and four months in prison and will have to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Assistant District Attorney Samantha Pendergrass said she offered Jackson a plea deal because the low-level felonies and misdemeanors the Charlotte native was charged with could be punishable by probation for a defendant like Jackson, with no prior criminal record.
