Father of MJ Molest Accusor Committed Suicide
BY Bill HutchinsonDAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
The father of a boy who accused Michael Jackson of molestation in 1993 blew out his brains in his luxury New Jersey apartment, cops said Tuesday.
Evan Chandler, 65, whose son received a multimillion-dollar settlement from the King of Pop, was discovered in his 16th- floor waterfront pad in Jersey City with his gun still in his hand.
Chandler took his own life Nov. 5, Jersey City police spokesman Stan Eason said. The concierge of Chandler's building found the body.
"He [Chandler] was on his bed still holding the weapon with a single gunshot wound to the head," Eason said. "It's straightforward. Case closed. It's suicide."
Chandler had been extremely ill and was scheduled to see a hematologist on the day he committed suicide, Eason said.
When Chandler didn't show up for the medical appointment, his doctor called the concierge to go check on him, Eason said.
"There was medication found in [Chandler's apartment] consistent with a serious illness," Eason said.
He said Chandler did not leave a suicide note.
In 1993, Chandler's son, who was then 13, accused Jackson of molesting him at the pop icon's Neverland Ranch in California. The allegations first surfaced after Evan Chandler, a former Beverly Hills dentist, administered Amytal sodium, known as truth serum, to his son.
The case never went to trial, and a civil suit filed by Evan Chandler and his son was withdrawn after Jackson paid the family $20 million.
Jackson, who died in June from a prescription drug overdose, later said he settled to avoid the circus of a trial. He was acquitted of molesting a different boy in 2005.
In 2006, Chandler's son accused his father of attacking him with a barbell, choking him and spraying his face with Mace. The charges were later dropped.

MJ Molest-Rap Dad Killed Self
By TIM PERONE, LINDA STASIand DAVID K. LI
A tormented New Jersey dad, who spent nearly two decades grappling with his son's sensational molestation claims against Michael Jackson, finally ended his pain with a gunshot to the head, authorities said yesterday.

The body of Evan Chandler, 65, the father of Jordan "Jordy" Chandler, was found in his luxury Jersey City apartment on Nov. 5 -- still holding his .38-caliber revolver as he lay in bed, officials said yesterday.
There were five different prescription drugs in the home. No suicide note was found.
Chandler died a broken man, gravely ill and estranged from his entire family, loved ones said, living out his days in sad isolation 17 years after Jackson first infected his world.

HAUNTED: Evan Chandler (above), whose son Jordan was paid $20 million by the King of Pop to silence his claims of molestation, shot himself in the head at Liberty Towers in Jersey City.
Once a stunningly handsome and prominent Beverly Hills dentist, Chandler saw his life turned upside down by his son's claims -- enduring the collapse of his practice and physical assaults, and driven to disguise himself with repeated plastic surgeries to avoid abuse from rabid Jacko fans.
Jackson was never charged with a crime, paying Jordan a staggering $20 million to end the probe into allegations he had molested the boy at Neverland Ranch and various other LA locations.
The accusations initially tore Jordan, now 29, apart from his mom, June Chandler, who was blamed for getting him mixed up with Jackson.
But in recent years, that changed, with Jordan reconnecting with his mother at the same time he cut off ties with his father, family sources said.
Jordan claimed his dad attacked him with a dumbbell and got a restraining order against him in fall 2006. They never spoke to each other again.
"Over the years, [Evan] began to develop tremendous mood swings. He was always depressed," a family member said.
"He stopped coming to family events because he was afraid of being recognized, like anyone in the family would care. That eventually turned into permanent estrangement from his family."
Chandler's son was 12 when he first met the King of Pop in 1992, after Jackson's car broke down near the Los Angeles rental-car agency owned by the boy's stepfather. His parents had long been divorced.
From the outset, Chandler was suspicious of MJ's relationship with his son, who often stayed in the boy's bedroom during creepy sleepovers.
Then a Beverly Hills dentist, Chandler put Jordan under anesthesia to remove a tooth -- and that's when Jordan first admitted Jackson had touched him inappropriately.
The youngster later repeated those claims to a psychologist, launching the massive probe in LA and Santa Barbara.
Chandler and his son remained tight for years after the settlement, and lived together as recently as 2006 in New Jersey before becoming estranged.
As much as Chandler loathed Jackson, the dad ended up going down the same freaky plastic-surgery path as Jackson, his family said.
Over the years, Chandler subjected himself to a series of cosmetic procedures, satisfying his own vanity and paranoia that Jackson's fans were coming after him, family sources said.
Years of nips and tucks rendered Chandler virtually unrecognizable from the way he looked in the '90s.
Chandler regularly self-administered Botox and cosmetic facial fillers.
"He was a handsomer version of Rob Lowe, that's how drop-dead handsome he was," a loved one said. "Since he was such a handsome guy, as he got older, he became more obsessive-compulsive about his looks."
Former Santa Barbara County Sheriff Jim Thomas, who was in office when Jackson was investigated for touching Jordan, said he never held it against the family for taking the money.
Thomas said he feels bad for everyone in Chandler's family.
"I don't know that anybody came out of this in a better way," he said.
Family members said Chandler owned at least one gun -- and feared the weapon he used to kill himself was the firearm he purchased after being beaten up in a Southern California parking garage in the 1990s.
The family always suspected Jackson fans were responsible for the beatdown.
More recently, Chandler was a patient at the Colanta Hematology & Oncology Center in Bayonne, NJ.
The day he was found dead, Chandler had missed an appointment there, prompting doctors to call his apartment at Liberty Towers.
A concierge let himself into Chandler's unit and found his body in the master bedroom, police said.
Chandler was suffering from a serious illness and had at least five different prescription medications in his home, sources said.
Doctors and cops declined to elaborate on Chandler's ailment.

Jermaine Jackson's Candid Interview With Larry King
By Alicia Cruz Senior writer
Theblackurbantimes
Jermaine Jackson spoke candidly with CNN's Larry King about everything from his brother's estate, where Michael may or may not be buried, whether or not Jermaine thought or knew the King of Pop was addicted to any drugs and if Omar Bhatti is the King of Pop's "love child."
Jermaine shared with King his preference that his little brother be buried at the Neverland Ranch, but added that his mother, Katherine Jackson, would make the final decision about where her beloved Michael would rest eternally. "I'm just concerned about security and being secure in a peaceful setting," Jackson said.
On Monday, a Los Angeles judge is expected to approve a series of agreements that include a deal for a movie to be released this fall about the King of Pop's final days before his death on June 25. of the One agreements would bring in a minimum of $60 million from Columbia Pictures for the rights to make a documentary from video of the King of Pop's preparations for his "This Is It" shows. Court papers show the Jackson estate would get most of the money.
When asked about Michael's children, Jermaine had this to say, "His children are doing fine. They're playing with my kids and they are coming back strong," Jermaine said.
When King asked if there was a chance the children might have show business careers, he said "there's a great possibility.""They love film and they love movies and they know a lot about animation," he said. The arrangement for Debbie Rowe, the mother of the two eldest children, to have limited visitation with them is "perfect" and "wonderful," he said. "We've talked about horses, she has a ranch."
Jermaine shunned scuttlebutt that suggested that Michael Jackson is not the biological father of the children. "People come forth and say things just to get attention, but those are definitely Michael's children. "You can look at the kids and tell that they are Michael's kids," he said. Jermaine said he did not know if Omer Bhatti, a 25-year-old Norwegian performer, rumored to be Michael's eldest son, was his brother's son. Jermaine stated, "I would say it's probably someone Michael endeared and wanted to be part of his life," he said.
At Jackson's memorial service last month, Bhatti was seated in the front row between the pop star's father and sister."I've seen pictures of him dressed just like Michael with the hat and red shirt and everything," he said. "But if he's not his son, we are going to continue to give him love."
Jermaine's statements contradict those of his father, Joe Jackson, who stated that Bhatti was, in fact, Micahel's son. " He looks like a Jackson, he acts like a Jackson, he can dance like a Jackson," Joe Jackson said.
When asked about Michael's alleged addiction to prescription painkillers, Jermaine told King he had no reason to believe his brother was addicted to drugs.
"I have never seen him act abnormal around me or never known anything like that," Jermaine said. He said he never talked about drugs with his brother "because it never came to my mind."
While the coroner's report on what killed Jackson has been delayed indefinitely, evidence emerged that he shopped for a doctor who would give him the drug investigators suspect led to his death.

Court: Katherine Jackson To Get Custody of Children

By Alicia Cruz

Theblackurbantimes
Look like a victory for the Jackson family as the courts decided that Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson's mother, will get custody of the King of Pop's three children afterall. According to court reports, Debbie Rowe, the mother of the Michael's eldest children, will get visitation, but no extra money.
Under this new deal, Rowe will retain her parental rights but has agreed not to claim custody. NBC has reported that Prince and Paris know Rowe is their mother, and that part of the agreement stipulates that they will begin to have a relationship with Rowe. Katherine Jackson's attorney Londell McMillan said on CBS' The Early Show Thursday: "It's an agreement, an agreement for the best interests of the children. This is not a money deal. This is not about money."

Mj's Chef Knew Something Was Amiss Morning of MJ's Death
{AP} LOS ANGELES -- On the day Michael Jackson died, his personal chef says her first hint of something amiss was when his doctor didn't come downstairs to get the juices and granola he routinely brought the King of Pop for breakfast each morning.Kai Chase, a professionally trained chef hired by Jackson to maintain a healthy food regimen, recalled the singer's final days in an interview with The Associated Press. She also spoke about the role of his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who is now the focus of a manslaughter investigation.
Chase said Tuesday that she had gotten used to seeing Murray coming and going from the mansion. The doctor usually arrived about 9 or 9:30 p.m. and would go upstairs to Jackson's room, and she said she would not see him again before she left -- sometimes late in the evening -- but understood he was staying the night.
In the morning, when she arrived for work, Chase said she would see the doctor coming down the steps carrying oxygen tanks. When Murray didn't come downstairs the morning of June 25, "I thought maybe Mr. Jackson is sleeping late," Chase said.
"I started preparing the lunch and then I looked at my cell phone and it was noon. About 12:05 or 12:10 Dr. Murray runs down the steps and screams, 'Go get Prince!' He's screaming very loud. I run into the den where the kids are playing. Prince (Jackson's oldest son) runs to meet Dr. Murray and from that point on you could feel the energy in the house change.
"I walked into the hall and I saw the children there. The daughter was crying. I saw paramedics running up the stairs."
At that point, Chase said, the small group that was gathered -- the children, their nanny, a housekeeper and Chase -- held hands and began to pray. As paramedics raced up to the room, Chase recalls, "We were all praying, 'Help Mr. Jackson be O.K.'
"Then everyone was very quiet."
At about 1:30 p.m. she said security guards told her and other staff to leave the property because "Mr. Jackson was being taken to the hospital."
When she came outside, she said, ambulances were in the courtyard and a crowd had gathered.
Chase, 37, who has cooked for other celebrities and comes from a show-business family, was hired by Jackson in March, let go in May, then returned on June 2. She said the pop star's focus was on fresh, healthy food for him and the children.

AP Report: Doc Gave Jackson Drug Propofol Before His Death
(AP) - Michael Jackson's personal doctor administered a powerful anesthetic to help him sleep, and authorities believe the drug is what killed the pop singer, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Monday. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said Jackson regularly received propofol to sleep, a practice far outside the drug's intended purpose. On June 25, the day Jackson died, Dr. Conrad Murray gave him the drug sometime after midnight, the official said. Full Story

AP: LA mayor: City will pay costs from Jackson event

LOS ANGELES - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is trying to quell the escalating debate over who should pick up the estimated $1.4 million tab for police, traffic control and other services related to Michael Jackson's memorial service.
Villaraigosa, who was vacationing in South Africa a week ago when more than 17,000 fans flocked to downtown Los Angeles to watch the public memorial, asserted Monday that the city will pay. He said he will not ask the Jackson family or AEG Live, the owner of the Staples Center where the event was held, to help the city recoup its expenses, and he lambasted a city Web site set up to request donations.

AP:Pelosi shuts down resolution on Michael Jackson
WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shut the door Thursday to a resolution honoring Michael Jackson because debate on the symbolic measure could raise "contrary views" about the pop star's life.
Lawmakers are free to use House speeches "to express their sympathy or their praise any time that they wish," said Pelosi, D-Calif. "I don't think it's necessary for us to have a resolution."
A resolution sponsored by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, cites some of the singer's charitable acts and proclaims him an American legend, musical icon and world humanitarian.
Even before Pelosi's comments, some Democrats said privately they did not support the resolution and a divisive debate would hurt House efforts to muster the votes for priorities such as health care and climate change.

Jackson's family moves quickly to take charge
By ANTHONY McCARTNEY, AP Entertainment Writer Anthony Mccartney, Ap Entertainment Writer 51 mins ago
LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson's family moved quickly Monday to take control of his complicated personal and financial affairs, winning temporary custody of his three children and asking a judge to name the King of Pop's mother as administrator of his estate.
In documents filed in Superior Court, Jackson's parents said they believe their 50-year-old son died without a valid will.
They also made it clear they believe they should take charge of both his debt-ridden but potentially lucrative financial empire and act as permanent caretakers of his three children.
Judge Mitchell Beckloff granted 79-year-old Katherine Jackson temporary guardianship of the children, who range in age from 7 to 12. He did not immediately rule on her requests to take charge of the children's and Jackson's estates.
Beckloff scheduled a hearing for July 6 and another for Aug. 3 to consider those issues and whether Katherine Jackson should be appointed the children's permanent guardian.
