Inspirational Message from TYLER PERRY...Thank GOD for closed doors!

Tyler Perry writes...

I THANK GOD FOR CLOSED DOORS

When I wake up in the morning and see the sunrise as I’m running, I thank God for new mercies every day. As I was running this morning I started thinking about this and you know how much I like to share my morning thoughts… LOL

I was out just thinking about my life and all the times that I wished that a door had opened. All the times I had promoters and people lie to me saying that they would help me... I remember wishing the bank would approve my loan request for a house or a car (usually one I couldn’t afford at the time). I wished that this person would help me or that person would do something to help my business, or this person would help my dreams come true.

Why is this generation of black filmmakers scared of the bio pic?

By Geek Swagg

Watching J.Edgar, the biographical movie based on the historically flawed, innovative head of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover, it puzzles me why the african american filmmakers of today ignore their rich history.
The J. Edgar Hoover bio pic displayed the complicated nature of the man who some say was the "most powerful man in America."

Tyler Perry Offers to Buy American Airlines for Whopping $5B?

Will there be any significant changes to flying the friendly skies with American Airlines if "Madea" creator, Tyler Perry has actually purchased the struggling airline?

By Alicia Cruz
The Black Urban Times

Can it be true? Did television & movie producer/director Tyler Perry make a whopping offer to buy American Airlines? Media reports state Perry offered American Airline officials nearly $5 billion and that the offer was quickly accepted by airline officials.

Last month word that the airline giant filed petitions for Chapter 11 reorganization in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York hit the Internet. The airlines parent company, Texas-based AMR Corporation made the announcement stating that the move was inevitable in order for the airline to achieve "a cost and debt structure that is industry competitive," ABC News reported.

Perry's web site makes no mention of the mega sale. His last tweet, dated December 4 mentioned taking a trip to the Potters House with talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey, but nothing about buying an airline yet.

Tyler Perry Discloses History of Childhood Abuse; Molestation

By Chrisena Coleman
DAILY NEWS WRITER

Filmmaker Tyler Perry, who is promoting a new movie about an abused teenager, has gone public with brutal memories of his own childhood beatings and molestation.
In an email to fans that has Perry's admirers buzzing, he recounts various examples of terrible childhood mistreatment - from his father beating him senseless to a neighbor woman molesting him at age 10.
Even his grandmother, the mother of his hated father, became a threat when she objected to his weekly allergy shot, he recalls.
"Ain't nothing wrong with that damn boy - he just got germs on him. Stop wasting all that money," she said, he recalled.
"She came and got me out of the living room leaving my Matchbox cars on the floor. She said she was going to kill these germs on me once and for all. She gave me a bath in ammonia."
Perry, 38, fled his abusive home in New Orleans and, after a period of homelessness and struggle, became a writer, director, actor and producer.
He is now a mega-millionaire and one of the world's most....Full Story

NY Paper Outs Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry is the hugely successful creator and star of the Madea movies, not to mention a top TV producer and mega kazillionaire. Even more interestingly to me, his mannerisms and aura are such that a whole lotta people within a mile of his finery seem to say, "He's a gay!" So, assuming the gaydar of millions is on target, why won't the guy come out already?
Is he living on the down low? Is it because he feels his audience is largely homophobic? Well, if your message is love and peace and all that jazz, why would you want to pander to a bunch of haters? Doesn't Perry realize what a difference he could make by simply uttering a quick statement and being forthright rather than acting vague all the time and bringing leggy females to premieres? He could enlighten throngs of people, most of whom, I'm sure, would keep on loving him every bit as much! I mean, it's not like anyone that bright is going to go "Oh, so he's a femme? I can't support him now!" Come on, Tyler. Take off your dress for a second and call The Advocate.

INTERVIEW WITH TYLER PERRY(THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - He survived abuse as a child and lived in his car at one point. Then Tyler Perry channeled his emotions into a series of popular stage plays and movies featuring his mad, black alter-ego Madea.

Now Perry, 39, helps finance and maintains total creative control of his films, his two TV shows and, as of October, his very own studio just outside Atlanta, where he is based. With Oprah Winfrey as a role model, he's looking to grow his empire, recently launching 34th Street Prods. to help bring films he loves to his loyal audience -- including the Sundance hit "Push: Based on the Novel By Sapphire."

In advance of the Friday release of his latest film, "Madea Goes to Jail," Perry sat down in the spacious, minimalist living room of his Hollywood Hills home to chat with The Hollywood Reporter.

The Hollywood Reporter: How do you describe your filmmaking style?

Tyler Perry: My stories are usually pretty predictable. The dialogue is always very simple because I am very aware of who I am speaking to. My audience is from 2- and 3-year-olds all the way up to 90, so I'm not trying to tell any extremely stylistic, artistic stories.

THR: Why has your audience been ignored by Hollywood?

Perry: For the most part people speak from their own experiences, and in Hollywood, there have not been a lot of African-Americans who have been able to tell their stories unfiltered, unedited, with no notes, and bring (them) directly to the people. That's why I love my relationship with Lionsgate: It's a no-note, we-don't-show-up-to-the-set relationship. I bring them a finished film and we test it and it usually does extremely well.
