A Complete Smash At The Blue Note

Article by: Stephanie Gergeres

To start off, lets give you all a bit of history about the Blue Note. The Blue Note, which is located in the Greenwich Village, of New York City has been the home of many jazz legends like Dizzy Gillespie and many powerful people in the music industry such as: Quincy Jones, Liza Minelli, Toni Bennett and Stevie Wonder. As the Blue Note became the home of all these soulful musicians, the popularity continued to grow and the dreams of performing on the Blue Note stage by younger musicians, became a dream of accomplishments and honor. Now that I've given you a bit of history, I can tell you my story about these three young musicians by the name of Rhaj Mason, Taylor McFerrin and Brockett Parsons.

Rahj a talented beat box maniac and walking Ipod, :) has created such a unique way of delivering music that he always keeps you wanting more, Brockett,( Lady Gaga's Pianist), a talented pianist who is undeniably sick on the keys just leaves you astonished and speechles, and Taylor McFerrin( Son of Bobby McFerrin- " Dont worry be happy") is a kick ass beat boxer, songwritter and composer that makes you look at music in another artistic way that you could never imagine. As these three young musicians grew their 8 year career together, they have finally accomplished one goal and that is becoming part of the Blue Notes history. Once the tickets were sold out and the long line that wrapped around the Jazz club was seated, the lights went down and a stellar performance was taken place.

Once their performance came into life, these three musicians performed some of their orignal songs of their album " Burgundy Jonze". One of the songs that was performed which was one of my favorites is, " Stay With Me ", which Rahj dedicated to his grandparents. " Stay with me" describes, love at it's best, which is couple's playing by their own rules and being in their own world no matter what the ups and downs are of a relationship; because at the end of the day the connection that you have found with someone is greater than all the petty fights. During the this awsome perfomance, the group also had support from some special celebrity guests and just to name one , Peter Gunz was in the house and hit the stage with them as well, performing "Blue Roses".
